Lawrence Tsang
Board of Director
Lawrence is the CEO of The D.H. Chen Foundation, a private philanthropic foundation that aspires to build a compassionate society through a diverse range of programme support and active initiatives. In his role, Lawrence leads and oversees the Foundation’s efforts to explore and develop innovative philanthropic initiatives and funding strategies, ensuring resilient and sustainable growth for communities focused on social good.
Lawrence is an experienced executive with over 30 years of corporate experience. Born in Hong Kong, he left for the UK at 13, continued his education, and began a multinational career that took him from the UK to Ireland, The Netherlands, South Africa, Indonesia, and eventually back to Hong Kong. His finance background also enabled him to move into different industries, including chemicals, law, professional services and real estate.
As his career progressed, Lawrence began to take more leadership in the social benefit strategies of the businesses he worked in; founding and establishing a global CSR initiative in one company and transforming and integrating social benefit in the mainstream business in another. His interest (or as he calls it “obsession”) in helping the younger generation find and realise their potential had led him to cross paths with Teach For Hong Kong back in 2018 when he volunteered on a project with their executive management team. In 2022, Lawrence co-founded Dream2Story, an NGO dedicated to helping under-resourced Hong Kong youths find a career path that stay true to their interests and passions and help to maximise success.
Lawrence is married and has two sons. He is an avid runner and has a love for travelling and exploring the world.
